Courtesy of The UpTake — without whose coverage and liveblog and Twitter links I’d have been up Poop Creek — comes the video from whence this still shot in the corner was taken. It’s a picture of Al Franken’s signed election certificate. The spikey signature is Governor Tim Pawlenty’s; the big blue Sharpie marker signature is Secretary of State Mark Ritchie’s.
Lovely, isn’t it? I just had to share it with you.
There’s going to be a victory rally today at noon at the State Capitol lawn. Al and Franni will be there, and so will Amy Klobuchar. Dang, this feels good in so many different ways I just can’t describe them all.

PW! Dang! It IS pretty. Thanks for sharing that. That really is proof that the wish came true.
Congratulations to Senator Franken (AND Senator Klobuchar. She must be breathing a little easier!)
Congratulations to Senator Al Franken
(snoopy dance)
who knew it would come to this ???
back in the day, when we were young (well, some of us were young) and the Al Franken Decade was just dawning, who among us suspected that one day in the future we would be supporting a US Senator
so let me be the first to say
AL FRANKEN FOR PRESIDENT in 2016
an thanks for all the hard work, PW. Guess you gotta find a new gig now, huh ??? I can’t wait …
Fun, fun, fun!
I once worked for a Dean who kept a collection of pens for signing things. You could tell how the a**hole felt about what he was signing by the pen he used. If he signed with a broad-nibbed fountain pen he was happy and he liked what he was signing. If he signed with a narrow-nibbed fountain pen, he was happy but didn’t like what he was signing. If he signed with a ball-point or a rollerball, he was pissed-off and really hated what he was signing. That is, he was signing because either he was forced to sign, or he couldn’t figure out a way not to sign. Like being out of the office when something routine (like renomination to the Graduate Faculty) came through.
I wonder if TP is that shallow, too? If so, he really didn’t like signing that election cert. Which makes me just as happy as a rooster crowing to greet the sun.
Awww, it is a sight to behold.
PW, if you feel like you’re out of a job, you could follow the Adventures of Senator Franken in the Senate – Let’s Shake Things Up story.
