Ten years from now, I wont be here, I am eighty years old. More important my 56 year old daughter may not be here, she is awaiting a transplant and has no insurance. She worked all her adult life as a medical secretary , when she could no longer work and could not pay the high cobra , she can only hope and wait. I am an optimist, I think the president will draw a line in the sand, and we will get our public option.

…and what’s up with Obama going on national TV and saying Medicare, the large successful government health insurance program that we already have, will (along with Medicaid) go bankrupt and “will consume all of the federal budget.” Hell of a way to sell people on government health insurance.

Even if it were to fail, I want to see a health care bill, with a public option, voted up or down.

This way, we know exactly who the lobbyists for the health care industry have bought, and we can bring them down, come time for re-election.

Then we just submit new bills, continually revealing the betrayal of these shameless pols to their constituents.

Forget playing it safe to pass alleged ‘reform’ that will mean nothing, anyway. Craft the legislation the way it should be crafted and force pols to vote against it…at their eventual peril.

Uh, no. It’s a confirmation of what was reported in this thread. The last bit is the most significant bit, canceling everything else said before it, to wit:

Not only have they already decided that it’s the only way — there’s your story right there, btw — but 10 years down the road, they will have forgotten all about it. In the meantime, it’s status quo ante. No change, except for the worse.

He is a corporatist, DLC politician, and he is giving them a seat at the table, and allowing them to dictate terms, instead of doing the right thing that most Americans want, despite all the industry propaganda.

It’s what the (D)’s do everytime, going back to Jimmy Carter.

Except for a massive job creation plan by the federal government we depend upon the private initiatives of companies and entrepreneurs. They in turn depend a lot on credit offered by banks.

I ask, are the banks lending and are companies & entrepreneurs borrowing?

If not, why?
