From McConnell’s weekly GOP address:
"If the stimulus bill taught us anything, it’s that we should be wary anytime someone in Washington says the sky’s going to fall unless Congress approves trillions of dollars immediately," said McConnell. "Yet once again in the health care debate, it’s rush and spend, rush and spend. Americans want health care reform, but they want the right health care reform. And that means taking the time and the care necessary to get it right."
McConnell voted for TARP. It appears that after 24 years in the Senate, he’s just learned this lesson in the past few weeks.

There’s a lot of innumeracy involved in this health care debate, I wish someone would clarify things. When different magnitudes and time periods are used the numerical comparisons become incomprehensible and useless. Here’s my start on normalizing the numbers:
DOD Budget, per every two years: $1000 billion
War cost, per every two years: $216 billion
TARP cost, per every two years: $750 billion
Public Option cost, per every two years: $200-$300 billion
So we can spend (borrow, actually) unlimited money for war and Wall Street, but helping Americans be healthy and productive is out of reach.
Yup.
