And there should be a supplemental. Without the extra lard and sneak items (”Cash for Clunkers” and the Lieberman Photo amendment. edit: And the IMF Bailout).

But with a timeline (preferably) for final clean-up and withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Vietnam was an “endless war” (although more so for the Vietnamese than the US). Going into Afghanistan in the first place was an extremely borderline act at best. LBJ didn’t get us into Vietnam initially but he did escalate without any type of exit strategy.

Obama didn’t get us into Afghanistan initially but he does appear to be escalating it without an exit strategy.

We’re asking for an exit strategy to go with the money.

Based on your comment, you appear to be short-sighted and enjoy ideological grandstanding.

Obama hasn’t yet given orders for pulling the troops out of theater, You want my tax dollars to keep the troops in harms way as they engage in another failed attempt at nation building. Put on your thinking cap, quit jerking off and try to focus on the Powell Doctrine

1. Is a vital national security interest threatened?
2. Do we have a clear attainable objective?
3. Have the risks and costs been fully and frankly analyzed?
4. Have all other non-violent policy means been fully exhausted?
5. Is there a plausible exit strategy to avoid endless entanglement?
6. Have the consequences of our action been fully considered?
7. Is the action supported by the American people?
8. Do we have genuine broad international support?

Then, tell me what current US deployments are to Afghanistan, what are the troop to task ratios, and what are the force protection requirements?

Then apologize to Jane.

How else do we show that we want the troops out? If we just keep going along with all this it will continue.
I want them to start using the billions already in the pot to begin the removal of troops. Won’t happen if
we keep pouring money in.

Sorry, but this is short-sighted ideological grandstanding. The troops need money even when they are pulling out of a theater. They need to stay safe until they are on friendly ground. Put your thinking caps on and make those knees stop jerking.
