Raul Grijalva’s office has released a statement to David Swanson:
Thank you for your emails this morning regarding Congressman Grijalva and his vote re: the war supplemental.
Our press secretary misspoke in the press.
Congressman Grijalva remains firmly committed to his opposition to the war supplemental.
He has not waivered or changed his mind.
I regret the confusion this has caused.
Best regards,
Gloria
Gloria Montaño
Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva
Arizona District 7
Many thanks to Rep. Grijalva for his principled stance. You can call him and thank him at (202) 225-2435, and in Arizona at (520) 622-6788 or (928) 343-7933.

One major ass chewin’ comin’ up!
“Misspoke”
Horsefeathers! it was clear from my conversation with DC staffers 15 minutes ago that they were under siege and that he had indeed waffled.
very pleased he regained his principled sense. and yes I’m calling back to thank him
One wonders if staffers aren’t also getting the same pressure the ‘critters are, resulting in this kind of “misstatement.”
probably right. I haven’t heard this many “not authorized to speak for the Represenative at this time” since the FISA vote
The old cw was that for every person at a demonstration there were 10 like-minded folks who didn’t show up. I wonder if calls/emails are thought of in a like manner.
have called 6 so far. Imagine Jesse Jackson Jr voting for a war? Just one horrifying example.
Called his AZ office to say thank you. I didn’t want to tie up lines at the DC office.
Woman told me they are keeping a tab of everyone who calls in.
Thanks Jane.
I called Congressman Grijalva’s office and thanked him for continuing in his determination to do the right thing.
Sorry I can’t say the same for my own Congressman, John Olver. Congressman Olver signed the 2007 letter. But he voted for the supplemental when it was first before the House. His staffers say that they don’t know how he plans to vote this time.
