Horsefeathers! it was clear from my conversation with DC staffers 15 minutes ago that they were under siege and that he had indeed waffled.

very pleased he regained his principled sense. and yes I’m calling back to thank him

One wonders if staffers aren’t also getting the same pressure the ‘critters are, resulting in this kind of “misstatement.”

The old cw was that for every person at a demonstration there were 10 like-minded folks who didn’t show up. I wonder if calls/emails are thought of in a like manner.

I called Congressman Grijalva’s office and thanked him for continuing in his determination to do the right thing.

Sorry I can’t say the same for my own Congressman, John Olver. Congressman Olver signed the 2007 letter. But he voted for the supplemental when it was first before the House. His staffers say that they don’t know how he plans to vote this time.
