url-9.thumbnail.jpgKendrick Meek has confirmed to several sources that he’s going to vote in favor of the $100 billion bank bailout, as well as the $4 billion "Cash for Clunkers."  He’ll try to say "I’m voting for the war."

I wonder if Marco Rubio will see it that way?

It takes 39 Democrats voting "no" to stop the bill from passing in its current form.

If they can’t get 39 Democrats to vote for it, they’ll have to sever the bills — and the supplemental can pass on its own.  It’s not clear that the IMF could, which is why they’re holding the war funding hostage to it.  Right now, I’m updating my count but it looks like we have 32 "no" and and 16 "lean no."  That means Meek’s vote could be critical in passing this pork-laden monstrosity.

On June 4after the Senate lumped the IMF and the war funding together, Meek signed on to Maxine Waters’ letter of concern about the IMF.  This is what it said:

Senate action to provide the IMF with $100 billion in funding and new authorities, including IMF gold sales, as requested by the Obama Administration, has precluded the possibility of House legislation on the IMF package.

"Has precluded the possibility of House legislation on the IMF package."  Got that?  Meek said he couldn’t vote for the IMF on June 4 — even with the war funding — and now he says he’s switching.

When Rahm Emanuel snaps his fingers, Kendrick Meek jumps.

Rubio’s followers are true believers.  Like him or not, he stands for something.  He’s going to wipe the floor with Meek over this one.
