Thanks to everyone who has worked tirelessly on this project — Howie Klein, Siun, David Swanson, Bob Fertik, Robert Greenwald and the folks at BNF, Jason Rosenbaum, Green Mountain Daily, Paul Martin, Jonathan Schwartz, Robert Naiman, Ryan Anderson, Kagro X, Glenn Greenwald, Digby, McJoan, Turn Maine Blue, Markos, Mark Weisbrot and the folks at CEPR, and especially everyone who made phone calls and wrote letters.
As Kagro says, it’s been a game changer. Let’s see how far we can take it.
Jane, fyi, you have Capuano both in the Opposed and the Undecided columns in your table above.
fixed, thanks phred!
Jane — in an earlier post you said that Mike Honda was going to vote “no,” yet he’s still listed in the “leaning no” column. Shouldn’t he be moved over to “opposed,” bringing the tally to 35? Thanks!
Also, I apologize if I missed an explanation of this, but why are only 79 House members being tracked? What about everyone else? Surely there must be a few “noes” among the rest of them. Do we have any idea where Sandy Levin and Gary Peters stand?
Hi Sharon, no problem.
Mike Honda was in “lean no” after this I believe:
http://campaignsilo.firedoglak…..plemental/
And the reason we’re targeting the 79 is because there were 51 who voted “no” the first time, plus 18 more who signed Maxine Waters’ letter on the IMF. We need to hold 39 and that’s the most likely target pool.
Thanks, Jane. This is the thread I was referring to: http://campaignsilo.firedoglak…..e-need-39/
Take a look at the little update chart — Honda was in the “Opposed” column there. Maybe that was a mistake, but if not it seems like he should have been moved on the main chart.
I tried to call everyone on the “leaning no” list – have to try to give them that last push all the way into no-land. :)I got voice mail for most of them. I left my message asking them to vote against. I chose to emphasize my opposition to the IMF funding (not that I favor funding the wars, I just think that funding the IMF adds insult to injury).
I also called Phil Hare, Al Green, and Jim Cooper on the undecided list.
I know it would be better to call while they are in their offices, but I work those hours – in fact, I am supposed to be working even now – but I wanted to do something for the effort.
I contacted Representative Carolyn Maloney. Her office described her as undecided. They provided no more information about her thinking on this.
This is truly outrageous as she has a history of opposing her constituents anti-war views.
She supported Bush’s war in 2003 despite overwhelming opposition to it in our district (which boasted 1/2 a million people marching with many arrested trying to get her attention and those of the media).
As a result, I waged a campaign for Congress against her which was derailed by her team of lawyers and an insider at the Board of Elections (for more on that, contact George Spitz).
Why is Congressman John Hall (D-NY)not listed on the call list?
I didn’t see Anna Eshoo (CA – 17th District) on your lists anywhere. I’ve never gotten a straight answer when I called her offices.
Oops – I meant 14th district.
