This is why we need to have a viable alternative to the mainstream Democrats for supporting candidates. Those who are not beholden to Rahm and his threats, can vote their consciences without worrying about WH pressures.

I’m starting to move beyond depressed at this point. Depression is so passive.
I’m heading toward outrage at the blatant betrayal.

So the Obama Administration can play hardball. And is it doing so to help homeowners and other debtors, really fix the banks, get the economy back on track, rollback and investigate Bush abuses?

No, it is doing it to continue Bush’s wars.

so, what to do? well, in years that are not divisible by two, there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth in the more principled precincts of the progressive blogosphere, but in years that are divisible by two, it is all about turning out the base and voting (D) once again, no matter what!

I can’t imagine that Republicans really will join with progressives to stop it.

More than likely, if the progressives provide enough votes to stop it, the Republicans will change course hold their nose on IMF and vote it through. Then they can complain about IMF later–wasteful spending.

Not saying let up on the pressure. Just saying don’t be surprised.
