H.R. 2346, the 2009 Supplemental Appropriations Act, which includes funding for the war in Afghanistan and the IMF should not be passed. We need money for California not foreign banks. What is more important? Money to save the state that is a driving force in the American economy or money to foreign banks who have screwed up and will dump the dollar sooner than later. The money to the European banks will not be transparent. We will never know where it has gone. Progressives and Conservatives both dislike this bailout.

Uh, oh. Bailing out states is just what the the Prophet Sarah warned us was coming.

Schwarzenegger and his conservative agenda is killing California just like it destroyed our global economy.
First of all the evil Schwarzenegger got to be Governor by the criminal recall instigated by Rove and the corrupt Bushies. (see the Enron scandal)
Second a tax increase during these difficult times is a fair and workable way to keep the money and economy afloat till we get out of this mess.
Which would you prefer, losing your job, getting your pay cut by 10% or paying 2% (around 10%) more state tax which goes toward education, fire and police, city services, etc.
When you do the math a temporary tax hike helps fix the problem best. And it ADDS money to the economy, not takes it away.

Bad as Arnold is, he’s a whole lot better than the Republicans in the legislature. If it weren’t for the 2/3 vote requirement, Arnold and the Dems in the legislature would have come to a workable agreement a long time ago.

On the other hand, Arnold’s latest efforts are disastrous. The voters refused to go along with the propositions, and this was falsely sold as if the voters were a bunch of Republicans saying no new taxes ever, while large numbers of voters were really rejecting the awful spending cap/rainy day fund scheme that would have permanently crippled the state.

I remarked on another thread that I don’t see how those precarious “Blue Dogs” are going to be able to defend supporting something containing the words “bailout,” “foreign” and “banks,” when the states — esp. CA [how many of the IMF supporters are from CA] — could really use that $107 billion.

CA, we luv ya, but you guys did Prop 13 & that stupid 2/3rd’s rule on your own. You guys need to fix this stuff before you get bailed out lest this ‘bailout’ become an annual event. Or do you want a ‘bailout bowl’ parade?

The only way to fix this: Shut everything down and say this is what happens when you let a minority dictate to the majority–repeal the 2/3 rule. I’m going to miss my state parks while it happens. They are what have kept me sane (or relatively speaking).
