By a vote of 13 aye 17 nay, the conference committee voted down the McConnell amendment to add the Senate language regarding Graham-Lieberman to the conference report.  Lieberman is out.

Cash for Clunkers is in — by a vote of 15 to 17, the Judd Gregg amendment to take it out was defeated. Feinstein voted with Gregg because she’s got her own Cash for Clunkers amendment.

Progressives will now be whipped into sacrificing their antiwar principles and voting for an anti-environmental bill that rewards Hummer owners and penalizes people with fuel efficient cars.  Blue Dogs will be stuck explaning why they voted for $100 billion to bail out European bank and a $4 billion pricetag on clunkers.
