Word up on the Hill this morning is that the stimulus bill is starting to lose Blue Dog votes over the IMF. And Red State is now sending out emails targeting vulnerable Democrats:
Barack Obama wants to bail out European banks.
We can stop him.
No, it is no joke. He really wants to. He is going to send the International Monetary Fund billions of dollars that will then be used to do in Europe what Obama has done here.
House Republicans are going to vote in a block to oppose this, which means around thirty Democrats are needed. The Blue Dog Democrats are logical targets. Those Democrats who represent districts that tilt Republican can be pressured. And among them, the freshman Blue Dogs can really be pressured.
Call 202-224-3121. Ask for the members of Congress below and tell them to oppose H.R. 2346, the 2009 Supplemental Appropriations Act.

I realize that beating progressives into voting against their conscience in order to give Blue Dogs cover seemed like a smart strategy when you joined the IMF and the war funding supplemental in the first place, Rahm, but it looks like you’ve just laid a trap for your own conservative Democrats to step into.
If Democrats in red districts have their vote to bail out Euroopean banks hung around their necks and lose to Republicans in 2010 as a result, don’t say we didn’t warn you.

About FDL Action
Rahm is too clever by half.
Still don’t like being on the same side as Redstate. Makes me feel stupid, like I’m missing something.
Boxturtle (More likely that I’m having an idiot attack than redstate got a clue)
Too many DC people smokin’ too much dope.
Rahm’s strategy makes no sense at ALL, red blue or purple, everyone wants to shoot it down.
Fixed it for ya!
Boxturtle (Rahm, especially, would improve IMO)
lol! :]
According to a just-up WaPoo article on “Republicans Obama Listens To” [it will make you sick], Rahm has a big crush on David Brooks and “calls him nearly as often as I call my mother.”
Explains rather a lot, non?
