It’s Thursday, and we’re still waiting for the Election Contest Court’s rulings on the case, so here are some more news items to keep us occupied.
The Senate recount contest isn’t the only legal action Norm’s been involved in recently. MinnPost’s Cynthia Dizikes reminds us that the Kazeminy lawsuits are still very much out there and lying in wait for the former Senator Coleman once he’s done burning through his donors’ money here in Saint Paul.
Meanwhile, Joe Bodell over at the Minnesota Progressive Project is curious as to why Norm’s been spending so much time in the Election Contest Court — every single day, in fact — even as Al Franken has not. Bearing in mind that Norm is a lawyer, though not a currently active one, Bodell puts forth the possibility that Norm might be appearing on his own behalf as some sort of consultant, and racking up fees for doing so. This is just the sort of thing that Franken’s petition to have a losing Coleman pay for various expenses would uncover quite nicely. It’s also the sort of thing that would irritate Norm’s donors nearly as much as his cavalier handling of their credit-card data.

About FDL Action
Y’know, with all the hair-tearing required re the AIG fiasco, it’s nice to come over here and have a hearty chuckle at Normie’s expense.
PW! just checking in to see if anything new has happened! Oy Vey! when I checked in this morning at The UpTake happened to catch Joe Biden’s townhall and it was great to hear him– Wish he and his positive outlook would get some press, instead of the evil chief malefactor who, since he is no longer in office deserves NOT ONE SECOND of attention as far as I am concerned.
So glad you are doing updates, i check daily! Wish but don’t expect something good would happen real soon. Tempis does not fugit in this case, does it?
i check daily, too – love the little gems strewn along the path.
I thought for sure that your hair-tearing comment was going to somehow be about the pic…He certainly has some hair to tear, or to tease, or to curl, or to cut. Maybe he was preparing for some sort of Elizabethan drama, a diminuitive Falstaff, perhaps. Just to say….that is a terrible picture. Just imagine him as one’ Doc.
I don’t think I’m going out on a limb to say this would piss them off far more
they can always recoup money lost through fraud against their credit card and the republicans are not only used to inept irresponsibility, they recruit for it
but faking them out to get their money, they are NOT GOING TO BE HAPPY
me thinks if he really is doing that we need to hammer and hammer and hammer the fools he is making of his donors
say pw, tomorrow is friday, do you think we get a decision before the weekend?
do they work on the weekend if there is no decision?
I thought this was a no brainer so why the delay?
I live clear down in TX, but I can smell the Republican bushgore stink, from here. This is like having an anti-biotic resistant disease: it won’t get any better, it won’t go away and it affects thousands, needlessly. I’m tired of hearing about it: this is the end of March?
How’s a lawyer inactive, not lying at the moment?
Some notes from Minnesota
No one I know is in any panic to get this recount over. What we want most is a recount that is so fair, that anyone who claims otherwise is just plain lying. For us good government types, this recount has been a joy to watch. And combined with the good folks at theuptake, anyone remotely interested could watch it.
My new hero is Joe Mansky–the guy in charge of elections in Ramsey county. His testimony was concise, organized, and fact-based. This is a guy who devotes his life to creating completely honest elections and had the charts to prove it. Without a doubt, he demonstrated that good elections combine a lot of organization and plain hard work. He is something the Pubs claim cannot exist–the nearly perfect bureaucrat.
The other reason no one is especially anxious to get this over, is that a whole bunch of Minnesotans were thoroughly disgusted with the campaign and are not especially excited about either candidate. I had a bunch of lifelong DFL friends over for a party recently and the feeling was that we would settle for a do-over if Franken and Coleman were prohibited from running. We fantasized about a race between a sane Republican like Arne Carlson and a real progressive Democrat like Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer.
Just remember. We are having this recount because Franken got over 360,000 fewer votes than Obama. If that number had been, say, 325,000–there would have been no recount. This was a recount triggered by the “none of the above” vote.
Besides, it has been a boost for the economy of St. Paul–which lord knows can use it. In one of Norm Coleman’s previous lives, he was the Mayor of St. Paul. Left the city with a lot of debt.
Norm, uhhh…. it’s over: the plus-size lady is singing.
Remember the sidebar feature on HuffPo a month or so ago, showing high school yearbook pics of prominent politicians?
I think Norman Coleman and Mike Huckabee were Dazed and Confused together.
BWAAAHAHAHAHAAA!
I love the way you think, PW.
Loyal to the end, like battered spouses or death row girlfriends, Norm’s few, loyal, true-blue supporters will probably pony up some more money, with the hope that he’ll change his ways and really love them after all. It’s not enough to pay back Al, but it’s the thought that counts.
That picture makes him look like hes going on a “stroll”LOL!!
