Two quick stories from the week just past:
The Minnesota Independent’s Chris Steller reports that Norm Coleman is telling donors worried about the possible abuse of their credit-card and other personal information to call his office — which is fine, except that they aren’t answering the phones. Oh, and they haven’t notified all of their donors about the security vulnerability, either. Ooops.
Meanwhile, Chuck Olsen at the new Twin Cities video weblog (I’m sorry, but I hate the term ‘vlog’) Eskimo Witch (part of the Minnesota Stories video blog community) made a great catch today: While looking at some of UpTake reporter Noah Kunin’s "Crashgate" footage ("Crashgate" being the catchall term for the Coleman website follies) it was noted that Coleman attorney Fritz Knaak chose to blame their website woes on — get this — the Russian Mafia. (It starts about three minutes into the vid.) Ahem. Of course, EW interviewed Adria Richards, the IT expert who discovered the Coleman site vulnerability, and asked her if she had any connections to the Russian Mafia. (Short answer: No.)

About FDL Action
Well…this could mean two things.
1) Coleman used the Russian Mafia to set up his website, and probably hire his legal team as well…since they seemed devoid of any knowledge of either US or Minnesota law.
2) One of the donors has discovered that their cards have been used for buying Ermine Coats, Caviar, and dachas along the Black Sea – using the pseudonym of Nyuriman Kulmanski. There were also a cargo of Samovars sent to some guy named Santelli c/o The Chicago Futures Exchange Teabagging Expedition, Ltd.
And of course it had absolutely nothing to do with Norm’s website being set up poorly.
Yep. Where’s my Dangerstein?!?
how and WHY would the Russian Mafia decide to fuck with norm coleman
did the Russian Mafia buy you some suits, norm ???
or they remodeled your house maybe ???
how exactly did norm coleman get on the bad side of the Russian Mafia
what did he do to them or with them
inquisitive minds want to know …
I blame Ned Lamont supporters.
There you go.
PW,
Exactly who did set up and run Normie’s website?
That’s a good question. The initial thought was that it was done by a subsidiary of Donatelli Group, which does Republican candidates’ websites and financial dealings. But Norm’s name doesn’t turn up on their client lists.
Norm may get a job offer soon:

I’d been suspecting that this might be the case. The RNC, after the Steele debacle, is going to want someone who not only takes orders and executes them to perfection, but knows what lines never to cross. Norm is hock up to his eyeballs thanks to his legal travails, so they have his gonads locked up in a humbler. They won’t even have to ask most of the time; he will anticipate their needs perfectly.
I guess Steele just ain’t, you know, crooked enough to run the RNC.
Heh! If it’s not under indictment, it’s not an RNC Chair.
