Been following the liveblog at The UpTake, and here’s the latest:
Al Franken’s Motion to Dismiss Norm Coleman’s contest just wound up being denied by the Election Contest Court. That was expected – the only real surprise is that it took so long.
Meanwhile, Norm Coleman’s request to have all the ballots moved to St. Paul for yet another recount has also been denied. Norm’s summary judgment motion comes before the court tomorrow; if that gets denied, as is expected, the contest trial starts on Monday.
And Franken voters whose votes didn’t get counted are trying to get the state to pay the costs of their lawsuit to get their votes counted, as they don’t think they should have to sue to be able to exercise their franchise.
But here’s the Question of the Day: If Norm Coleman really thought he was getting his old Senate seat back, why would he be taking a job with the Republican Jewish Coalition?
Just wondering, y’know.

Once again there is a move afoot to try to get Franken seated

The group is hoping that Coleman can tap into his supporters and raise enough money that they can afford to pay him

Why doesn’t Harry Reid provisionally seat Al Franken like the Democrats did with Mary Landrieu? I think perhaps Harry Reid is not eager to face the Wrath of Al.
Because Harry Reid is Harry Reid.
Well, maybe he’s just moonlighting. Probably as a Senator he has a lot of free time.
Senator Franken!
This whole business has never been about seating Coleman…they saw the handwriting on that wall November 4.
It has always been about a p.r. campaign to deny Democrats the seat…and to set up a convenient fundraising target for 2010 just as soon as Franken is sworn in.
Boehner goes on record sayin that the only thing that will work to save the nation is more tax cuts—lettin the people keep their money-etc.
He’s in a fuckin time warp!
Nah he just can’t figure out any other thing to say. seems to me that all those Boosh Tax cuts didn’t work to save the economy so would more tax cuts help? Boner & the republicans are just a bunch of Dumb fucks with tired old worthless economic “Theories” of Uncle Milti Friedman. Those “Theories” proved to be worthless in South America, Poland, Russia and many other countries who were forced to under go the “Shock Doctrine”.
maybe joe lieberman will join
What I find puzzling is the new job. Norm has always run as a Christian pro-family candidate, at least since he became a Republican. I heard him speak touchingly when he was mayor of St. Paul on the importance of the Catholic church to St. Paul — the big cathedral on the hill balancing and in a sense completing the state capitol, on a smaller hill nearby.
