A bunch of guys who probably voted the straight Republican ticket last month just found out that their best friend in the whole wide world wants to destroy their livelihoods, along with trashing the US economy in general:
Kentucky automobile dealers were surprised, confused and saddened Thursday by Sen. Mitch McConnell’s opposition to a financial bailout of the Big Three automakers.
"I have never been as disappointed as I am today," said Versailles Ford dealer Jack Kain, who was chairman of the National Association of Automobile Dealers Association in 2005.
Kain said he and other industry representatives met with Kentucky’s congressional delegation on Tuesday in Washington and came away feeling that McConnell wouldn’t oppose the bailout.
Yeah, I’m sure that’s what he told you — because he knew that if he’d told you the truth, you’d have had enough time to organize a pitchfork brigade to storm McConnell’s office, both in Kentucky and DC.
Ron Jackson, president of the Kentucky Automobile Dealers Association, said it’s "hard to know" why McConnell is opposing the bailout, but "the manufacturers have to have this money."
The collapse of even one of the Big Three would be "devastating to this state" and its auto dealers, who are independent business people. They would be left without a product to sell.
Thousands of jobs could be lost at dealerships and at auto assembly and parts plants around the state, Jackson said. The surviving auto makers would be hurt.
[...]
Added Jackson: "I sincerely doubt that he (McConnell) is questioning the need for the money. It’s got to be something else, and I don’t know what that might be."
Here’s the "something else": He wants to take down the UAW. Face it, guys: He’s just not that into you. If Mitchie-Poo can welcome the prospect of destroying the lives of 300 million Americans just so he can bust a union, why should he give a rip about a few measly car dealers, even if they are all Republicans?

About FDL Action
1. Anyone who believes anything a Republican says is stupid.
2. I hope everyone who works in the automobile industry in any capacity, particularly the checkered pants and white shoe crowd that owns the dealerships, is happy with their electoral choices in the most recent election. They all deserve exactly what they’re going to get. Unfortunately, they’re going to take a lot of other folks down with them.
Will they ever learn? Mitch old eagalbeak, has been instramental in distroying the Country along with his colleages. Yet those republicans re-elected him thinking he was going to stand up for them. Remember it wasn’t the repeblican party that voted and supported the war and all the spending and lack of oversight and regulation that has burdened all our children with debt. It wasn’t the party that made the few at the top in great shape but ground those down the ladder into the ground. It may take a depression to where people like the car dealers and people in the mid range of wealth feel some pain for them to wake up. The republicans they voted into office aren’t for them anymore than they are the country or it’s people. It’s not the party or even it’s idealology it’s the people they put into office and let run wild at our expense.
