Look, George and Dick in the same place! And wow, the Cheneys sure know how to boogie!

Barbra Streisand, Morgan Freeman, country singer George Jones, dancer and choreographer Twyla Tharp, and Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey of The Who were the recipients of the Kennedy Centers Honors this year. Before the awards show at the Kennedy Center, they were feted by the Bushes with a reception at the White House.

Outspoken Democrat Streisand stayed in gracious grande dame mode and didn’t go into politics with the lame duck and his wife, commenting that:

Art transcends politics this weekend.

Meanwhile, Pete Townshend enthused:

I’m really excited and I’m touched.

After the reception, the group traveled with President and First Lady Bush to the performing arts center for the gala, which will be broadcast December 30 on CBS. Bushes and Cheneys sat together during the show and seemed to enjoy themelves.
