National Day Without A Gay has been called for December 10, International Human Right Day, and organizers are encouraging people to "call in gay" and spend the day being of service as volunteers in the community:
Day Without A Gay seeks to shift our strong feelings about injustice toward service! Let’s fight for equality by out-loving those who would deny us rights. Call in "gay" on December 10th (International Human Rights Day) and volunteer for your local LGBT and/or human rights organizations.
This site allows the LGBT community and our allies to be active in the search for service by posting and searching volunteer opportunities. We will not sit at home on December 10, 2008. We will offer love and support to those who need it most, the way only the gay community can!…
If you live in one of the 30 states where individuals can still be fired simply for being gay or lesbian, (yes, unbelievably, there are still 30), there are plenty of ways that you can lend a hand and a voice in our fight for gay equality–without missing work.
In Southern California, gay-out participants are readying themselves to help fire victims along with helping out other service groups, and Day Without A Gay has a a state-by-state listing of volunteer opportunities.

1,831 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Lisa Derrick and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
Wow, whatta great power move…ya think maybe the Governator of California and the lackies to economic power in Sacramento might be lookin for a way ta get out from under Prop8 by any means necesaary before the next election cycle??!!
Now if the “power of gay” could jest be brought to bear on the Senate of the United States we might ta get health care reform and a new economy!!
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION…THIS IS WHAT I’M TALKIN’ ABOUT!!!
some encouraging news on the healthcare front today Norske . . .ah cripes, can’t believe I used “encouraging” in anything involving Daschle, but the wonkier types among us are saying it’s a good thing
OT
James Steinberg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Steinberg) rumored to be Obama National Security Advisor.

Lisa – thanks for this – gonna see if I can find something a little closer than Austin – but this is fabulous. onward!
great idea – especially appropriate to use human rights day.
from your wiki link:
great wake up call. i like it but will not stop the struggle.
I saw that.
had no doubts on that score. just wanted an excuse to post it.
OOoh, the rightards will be sooo jealous, and will whine about us “ANARCHISTS ” having all the fun.
Maybe they can have their own “Call in STooPid” Day?!
Citizen eCAHNomics:
Thanx for the heads up…I am gettin a lot more comfortable with the heavy duty administrative team Obama is puttin tagether..let’s remember that Clinton ran the most successful administration the country has seen since FDR and all those folks fought the same oligarchic powers that threaten ta bring the country down now, except now we got solid majorities in congress AND an electorate that is invested in the President…we can’t under estimate what a solid 7%+ majority victory at the polls will mean for at least the first two to three years.
Did you read #4?
Citizen californiarealitycheck:
Of course the struggle goes on…that’s what livin’ is all about!! It’s all about the struggle… the journey is all we got, let the kids enjoy life at the destination.
i can’t remember because i never thought/knew that – on what measure(s) are you judging success? thanks!
Citizen eCAHNomics:
Yeah, I did and I’m not as paranoid as many about the Clintonistas or the Clinton forgiegn policy folks beginnin’ in this administration…where do they go from here, this is it for them and they’re in harness for Obama and the country now.
I don’t share your sentiments.
wow. what happened to change your mind? i remember the days when you were censored for using “m*clinton”
Yee Haw! It’s truly over in Alaska…
Stevens concedes…
And one of ours will be in DC. Yee Haw! indeed

Citizen selise:
Please read my last comment to eCAHNomics…as long as we are gettin experienced Clintomnistas workin’ FOR Obama and the country at what they are experienced at and do best I ain’t upset. And as for Mrs. Clinton, if she accepts the SOS job, she will be effectively committin’ herself AND Mr. Bill to Obama since neither of ‘em will be in position ta be President and their legacy will be tied to Obama’s success.
Unlike a lotta folks around here, I am more impressed with Obama as each day goez by, not less…this is a VERY talented person who has survival skills and life experiences that reflect a life of struggle and a recognition of where he comes from and what is important to common folks. As long as the Clinton’s accept the fact that this is as far as their ambition can take them then I’m cool with lettin’ Obama “manage” ‘em.
I don’t know whether to be happy or sad that everybody I know will be calling in gay on my birthday. [sigh]
new thread up top
thanks for the reply.
yay 4 gay day!
Thanks for continuing to cover this Lisa. It’s good to see the organizers are taking advantage of the remarkable organization that came together so quickly.
