Digg It pups for our Gay and Lesbian brothers and Sisters. We must support their quest for equality!
Michigan will have rally/ies tonight as well, reporting to follow, have someone on the ground in Lansing.
What I want to know: why is this happening NOW? Why not when other states have had votes against gay rights over the last 4 years? I’m puzzled about the one in Michigan to support California, when we didn’t have similar rallies in Michigan after voters outlawed same-sex marriage in 2006.
Is there something in the water? did people finally catch a clue and realize they had to do more than shrug?
I would say yes, but it may also be that the Mormons and the Catholics got together to push their agenda and people said wait a minuet no church should be taking away rights from no one! After Bush and the erosion of Constitutional rights enough was enough!
I think the Mormons got all the money for prop 8 from money they were going to use to help Mitt get elected. Passing prop 8 was suppose to buy Mitt good will with hard core religious voters for his next run.
Now Sarah is stealing the show, Huckabee is on Fox, and hedgefunds like Mitts are getting a good part of the blame for the bank bailout.
Never mind all the bad PR the Mormons are getting.
If I were religious I would say its a sign.
Wow, Teddy! Very cool. One observation, though. The people in Tulsa look like they don’t miss too many meals.
Kansas City chimes in.
I suppose because this time it took rights away that were granted.
Strange, isn’t it? Why not these kinds of demonstrations before the vote in California? I know there were some, but not with this kind of organization.
Rights are not GRANTED they are Inherent and they can not be taken away they can just be made difficult to enjoy!
How will these prop 8 protests hurt Mitt? Will he be praying that the protests are forgotten by moderate voters in four years?
Did the Mormon church leaders drive a shiv through their best hope of seeing a Mormon President in four years?
What about the sanctity of Marriage what is more sanctified than marriage for love?
Do Mormons want the public to start seeing the question framed that way?

Thanks to prop 8 all the Mormons dirty laundry is coming out.
Indeed you’re right, privileges are granted by the government like licensees.
Nice to see a good turnout in Chicago. Don’t know what the temp there was but downstate it was damn cold and windy. I liked the sign reading, “No more Mr. Nice Gay.” Probably not an original statement but first time I’ve heard it.
I’m trying to think of ways to frame this debate so that from a Mormon point of view they can see the damage that they are doing to themselves.
Because once God gets involved reason goes out the window. You must show then that their god’s have or are failing to give them what they want.
What do the Mormons want to be accepted, and what better symbol than a Mormon President.
Prop 8 is going to hurt Mitt in 4 years with moderate voters. A Mormon will never win the acceptance of fundamentalist religious voters.
Without fundamentalist voters you cannot win the GOP primary.
Of course by acting to win fundamentalist GOP voters you scare the moderate voters that you need to win the Presidency.
In four year a lot more of McCain’s older voter base will be dead. In four years a black President will not be quite so frightening.
If the economy is still bad any GOPer will win but if its so so well the GOP will have less older voters and a black President won’t seem quite so scary.
I wonder how many percentage points that could give us for next time?
Where down state Carbondale?
I think a Mormon has a better chance of winning as a Dem. That idea could cause the Mormons to reconsider prop 8 and drop it.

1700 in Austin. seeing reports there were much bigger marches in Dallas and Houston
Not that far, Champaign-Urbana… mid-statish.
And yet another San Diego report, with great photos. Estimates up to 50,000 people there!
Teddy you ARE the Newsman this evening!! So what are the guesstimates of just how many people in total came out today??? Any one doing the math?
Wow, right in the very heart of Republicanland.
Been awhile since I’ve been there
it’s CHANGE . . .if we can keep it
Good turn out today in SF and awesome weather. Not just the usual suspects either, there were lot’s of young straight couples too. Cars were honking and waving support to anyone carrying signs downtown as well. Couldn’t hear the speakers but who cares? Now we’ve got to see what happens after everybody goes home. Somehow I don’t think this is going away soon.
Our motto should be, “flattest place on Earth.”
On CNN D.L. Hughley has Dan Savage reporting on Prop 8!
What’s a Minuteman doing at a gay protest march? Causing trouble for no good reason of course!
“A man identified by police as a member of the anti-illegal immigration group San Diego Minutemen was arrested about 12:30 p.m. at Sixth Avenue and Ash Street following a fight, said San Diego police Capt. C.J. Ball.”
Reporting from cold, windy Michigan on a candlelight rally in Lansing.
Thanks, Rayne
