Michael Moore’s new movie is about America, that much is certain. But the director–who shoots a lot of footage and shapes his films in the editing room–is still busy shooting and has begun shift the focus from "what’s going on in the world and America’s place in it," as Paramount Vantage chief Nick Meyer originally described it. The movie is expected to come out as early as this spring.
Moore change may be coming from the huge shift in political climate and a new optimism in the country. Moore is said to be the focusing on the global financial crisis and the U.S. economy, since his view of America as incredibly messed up thanks to the Powers That Be may not play in Peoria, LA or NYC. Explains Craig Minassian, an entertainment consultant and former Bill Clinton aide, quoted in the Hollywood Reporter:
If Moore offers a prescription for how to improve things, he may indeed find an audience that at this moment is eager for change. But it’s going to be hard for him. What this election shows is what’s right with America, and sometimes what Michael Moore does is highlight what’s wrong with America.
But if Moore focuses soly on the financial crisis, the may be a day late and dollar short. Says Minassian:
The problem with the financial crisis is that it’s changing so quickly. I’m not sure how relevant is going to be in six months, and I’m not sure if people want to hear it; my sense is they already have a pretty good idea of a lot of the people who are to blame for it.
Those familiar with the project say the untitled movie will contain an end-of-the-empire tone. Moore has said that in some ways he sees the movie as a bookend to Roger & Me the director’s breakthrough nearly two decades ago, which featured the U.S. economy and the auto industry at its center. Considering the sad state of GM, he may be on to something….

I Support Miachel Moore as he is from my home state of MI and I do beleive Bay City?? I grew up there….but I think this will be a great film because it really is the end of an empire and an end to how politics are ran in general…..just think the next election in 2012 will be an issues based campaign….that is if the Repubs can come up with some ideas and new issues….OR THEY HAVE PAL-WHO? AS THEIR NOMINEE…..IT WON’T MATTER ANYWAY….PRESIDENT OBAMA WILL HAVE HAD 4 YERARS TO PROVE HIMSELF AND THERE IS NO WAY WE WILL LET HIM GO THAT EASILY!!!
BUZZARDS KORNER!!
