Kicking off a national protest against the passage of California’s Prop 8 which eliminated gay marriages, 4000 demonstrators in New York City surrounded the LDS temple in Manhattan in a show of bi-coastal solidarity. The crowd filled Columbus Circle for several hours.

In Los Angeles, demonstrations continued outside the Mormon Temple.

*Just a reminder: The Mormons may have been the single largest donor in terms of ad money, but many, many other churches and denominations were involved. Though names of endorsing churches has been removed from the Yes on 8 website and Craigslist, Mojoey snagged it off Reddit.
