In a ploy to keep the tech-friendly but politically n00b and naive voters away from the polls "someone" has sent out the following text messages to cellphones in Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Missouri, Arizona, Alabama …and obviously potentially more, per Rock the Vote’s youth vote boiler room DC:
Due to long lines tomorrow, all Obama voters are urged to vote Wednesday.
No clue how the recipients’ cellphone numbers are being accessed.
One of the originating text numbers has a woman’s name and friendly out going message, the other a generic voicemail message. Neither returned messages left for them.![]()

Now that seems to be a crime; intentionally trying to suppress the vote.
MO Sec of State Robin Carnahan is aware of this already, and has forwarded the information that has come to her office to the US Attorney for further investigation.
IANAL, but that seems to be a LOT of crimes. One per message sent, I believe.
The second text from the phone in the lower pix appears to have been forwarded several times. I left messages for both numbers. It is possible the texter got the message and simply sent it on to her phone list…we’ll see if she calls me back.
Lisa – see LHP’s Oxdown diary – this is a federal crime – wire fraud.

This happened in IDAHO too, I couldn’t believe it. Daughter had a friend get one while they were in class this morning.
