Senator Michael Bennet of Colorado led the effort to show that a majority in the Senate supports the public option. Was it all for show? Did Michael Bennet only champion the public option when he thought it didn't matter?
If Bennet introduces the public option during next week's debate, according to its own rules the Senate has to hold a vote. This is our only chance for a vote on the public option.
» Tell Senator Michael Bennet to introduce the public option for a vote in the Senate.
The only problem is that a “working majority for change”
will include
0 Republicans (all moderate Republicans were defeated years ago)
and
0 Bush Dogs (all of whom I hope will have their *sses primaried in 2010).
So what is the upside of not knocking the Republicans?
Keeping David Broder and Bob Kerrey happy?
I am not optimistic.
