twitter-hashclouds.thumbnail.jpgIntroducing the twitter Vote Report, an innovative new project brought to you by the blog techPresident and an all-volunteer team of software developers, designers, and other concerned citizens.

The basic idea is simple: Voters tweeting about their experiences at the polls. Did an improperly calibrated voting machine flip your vote in West Viriginia? Lines around the block in West Palm Beach? GOP goon squads massing at your polling place? Let the Vote Report know.

You don’t have to wait until the election to get involved. If you get a robo-call, you can report that, too. Your submissions will be used to compile a nationwide map of robo-calls

If you’re already on twitter, you can get started right away by including #votereport in your tweets.

Here are some codes you can use to tag more details. Tagging enables VoteReport to automatically analyze your tweets and incorporate your dispatches into the larger election map:

  • #[zip code] to indicate where you’re voting; ex., “#12345″
  • #machine for machine problems; ex., “#machine broken, using prov. ballot”
  • #reg for registration troubles; ex., “#reg I wasn’t on the rolls”
  • #wait:[minutes] for long lines; ex., “#wait:120 and I’m coming back later”
  • #early if you’re voting before November 4th
  • #good or #bad to give a quick sense of your overall experience
  • #EP[your state] if you have a serious problem and need help from the Election Protection coalition; ex., #EPOH
