Ashley Todd, the College Republican and McCain campaign volunteer who staged her own mugging and blamed the backwards "B" she’d scratched into her face on a fictitious black Barack Obama supporter, is out of jail.

Todd, 20, will be required to undergo mental health treatment. If she stays out of trouble, her criminal record will be expunged. 

Wouldn’t it be nice if all young offenders got this kind of compassionate forward-thinking treatment from the criminal justice system?

Here’s a slogan for the new administration: Treatment and a second chance, not just for Young Republicans!
