ATTACK OF THE KILLER

Happy Halloween from the Obama campaign.
oh, so clever! thanks Jane.
Jane, that is SO cool.
What 50’s movie is the original footage from? All that’s missing are the MST3K bots.
A moment of fun – tired of the “but what if” – thanks. Jane
The Day the Earth Stood Still, Michael Renie. It was actually about anti-commie hysteria.
They only want to protect us from The Terrible Secret Of Space.
And Patrica Neal
The Day The Earth Stood Still
And Gort
That’s very clever. I like it.
Yep. Robots. That’s what the Rs are.
Saw in passing a funny headline that averred that part of the reason that the Rs are in such disarray is that they don’t have any glorious leader to tell them what to do. Yep, robots.
Platoo borada nicto, Jane. (sp?)
Thanks Jane.

Klaatu barada nikto
I used the google and it gave it to me without even opening a page.
Great ad. People are going to watch that sucker.
OT:
Does anyone make these correlations: “Economy headed into Deep Recession”, Exxon Mobile posts world record profits, and the Bush/McCain Ticket has “momentum”.
Yea Right. The R’s are the enemy combatants of the U.S.A.
I so suck at pop culture but nice given Halloween is tomorrow
Remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still, coming to a theater near you on 12/12.
Great one, thanks.
The IMDB listing has folks calling for a boycott.
Totally OT, my bold
Obama approaches lawmaker about White House post
How low will the Repugs go to stop early voting? /wink

don’t forget the scariest Halloween image of all.
Well that should please progressives everywhere.
Whoa nellie, all together now

That is scary!
Very humorous and may be effective as well.
I saw the trailer. It seemed like a special effects extravaganza in which the charm of the original movie was likely to be totally lost. But then look at what a great job Tom Cruise did in the remake of the War of the Worlds.
Jane, and others, I must object to using Gort as a stand-in for pre-programmed Rethuglican thuggery.
In the movie The Day The Earth Stood Still, Gort was the ultimate embodiment of impersonal justice, part of an inter-galactic police force dedicated to eliminating the first hint of extra-worldy militaristic aggression. As such, it allowed the larger planetary union to maintain a secure existence without the need to maintain standing armies (something our founding fathers strove mightily to prevent).
Gort rules.
I knew Tom Cruise and Kenau, you are no Tom Cruise!
yea, that too
Perhaps the Yul Brynner gunslinger in Westworld would be more appropriate, or one of the Terminators.
God help us. Rahm Emmanuel, the D version of Scooter Libby.
Thank goodness.
Get
Out,
Republican
Tomfools
I meant the Tom Cruise in Born on the 4th of July.
But without Scooter’s scruples.
Heh. You’re no longer allowed to criticize Obama here. Idealogues have taken over, & we must all fall in line.
Bush want a trip to Mars. Launch him tomorrow, one way of course.
Don’t think that true. There’s something about “hanging together or separately” that comes to mind.
eCAHN, I believe I missed wishing you a happy birthday the other day, so allow me to do so belatedly-
(((Happy Birthday, eCAHN)))
Knock it off eCAHN, you know that isn’t patently not true.
should read:
is patently not true
what a crock of shit that is
I just keep looking at stuff and thinking about how neat everything seems.
Should read, bullshit!
*sigh*
Don’t let it get to ya.
That was the absolutely perfect thing to watch while I take a break from putting together bags of goodies for tomorrow’s goblins and princesses (you can tell how out of touch I am with the younger set — I have NO idea what the most desired costumes are…).
On a completely different note, on a local commercial radio station here I’ve been hearing a VERY catchy country music tune that’s an ad against Saxby Chambliss paid for by the Democratic Senatorial Congressional Committee. The gist of it is that “Saxby’s economics” won’t put gas in the guy’s truck or send his kid to college, as well as other things I can’t recall off the top of my head. It’s clever as all get out, and a toe-tapping good tune into the bargain. It reminds me very much of “Have You Had Enough.”
anywhoo
Looks to be an interesting weekend (news wise)
Good idea. Just weary is all.
Georgia-Florida!
I’m going to be Joe the Mullet, the latest character to emerge on the political scene.
Did you read the article you posted?
Note that this is an AP (!) article, and the informational source is “officials said”. Right.
**Handing helmet and pads to eCHAN** And a belated happy birthday!
I haven’t decided who to be tomorrow… Marion the Democratic Voter might work for me! (If you ever want to scare your boss just dress in “power clothes” on Halloween and wear a name tag with your name and “IRS Auditor” underneath… It works like a charm!)
woohoo when is that on?
Marcy upstairs, fyi
*shaking head*
Thank you very much.
*wishng it was Saturday so I could drown myself in collegiate football
Yes I did, it’s speculation. It’s on Yahoo, so someone is putting it out there. I’m not saying it’s the truth, I’m just posted it so people know.
3:30 est CBS
Thanks for the good wishes.
Spending my time helping my two Boards deal with financial crunch. Not happy, but very worthwhile.
Cincy and South Florida on right now
Yea, you are right. No one bitches and moans about Obama here do they?
I would treat this with a healthy degree of skepticism. The attribution “officials said” and the name “Rahm Emmanuel” nearby do, uh, make me wonder.
He’ll probably appoint republicans too.
thanks. watching now.
Rachel is rightfully pointing out that Obama is not a progressive.
Really need Penn, Alabama and Texas to lose this weekend or do they have a bye this week?
Penn STATE has a bye , Texas Texas Tech in a huge game Sat night in Lubbock (8pm ABC). Bama has a lightweight out of conference game.
He isn’t a progressive and there is no way, at this time, that a progressive would be elected as president.
Not even nominated much less win.
And someone has the guts to whine about idealogues. What a crock.
I have to hope for an upset with bama then
A lot of speculation is being thrown around right now everywhere. Nobody can say for sure what’s going to happen until the results are in after we vote.
Better chance of the Red Raiders beating Texas
I know but if bama loses a conference game to a no rank, they will fall pretty heavy. Somehow I doubt Texas will lose this weekend.
Texas Tech is ranked #7 and scores like a pinball machine.
also, they eat old people’s medicine!
Look, Jane, the election’s almost over.
You can stop being so awesome now.
It’s a little bit of overkill, don’t you think?
I am old enough that I should remember this stuff.
Thanks.

That’s 9:30 am Hawaii time.
We spend many a 7:00 am here at the local sports bar watching games not carried by local stations.
Kinda weird to be having scrambled eggs or French toast while watching football. I’m not a beer drinker, but even if I were, I don’t think I could stand the stuff @ 7 am.
Oh, are you rooting for USC? [wink. My son goes there.]
