What’s missing from the GOP’s web page? Well, with the exception of a link to McCain’s campaign store and a stale link to volunteer for an event on October 25 — any mention of John McCain. Quite a contrast from the DNC site.
Fred Thompson is apparently a more important story than the party’s presidential nominee, one week before the election.
Cutting and running.

About FDL Action
Hi Jane,
Unfortunately there is a lot of sleaze out there that continues pushing the nonsense http://thinkprogress.org/2008/…..-dictator/
Amazing.
Nice catch, classic.
Flush.
I’m not seeing any sign of a certain two-term GOP president, either.
wow.
Excuse me while I roll on the floor laughing
I think this is a case of “Underside of bus — meet McCain.” The political version of being marooned on a desert island and left to die.
LOL!
Hell, I’m looking at a picture of McCheese on BlogAds right now.
I guess they’re tired of listening to the Wheeze Machine too.
And I just have to get this off my chest. If McCain is soooo doggone for helping the middle class, why does he want to tax my health care, fgs?
Yeah, McCain is residing in a GOP Gitmo Limbo of their own making. Can’t not run, can’t elect him either.
There is more mention of Barack Obama than any of their candidates (didn’t see McCain mentioned at all but it was a quick parousal) on their website.
This needs to get some play. Ron Hubler could use some love from us. He is running against King.

“get your yard sign off of my lawn!”
“The Republican Party IS HIRING”
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Sayonara.
ROFLMAO
The Republican Party is hiring!!!!
There’s your job creation right there. Lots of openings!
lol. owe ya a coke.
I think the GOP site may have been compromised/vandalized, but maybe not. Eventually an image of McCain comes up mentioning Super Saturday, doesn’t stay on screen very long, and one that says Support the Ticket with Palin/McCain image, again on screen only briefly. The Fred Thompson front page stays up the longest.
There’s a static Meet Barack Obama image click through. The mentions of McCain/Palin are minimal to non-existent. The emphasis is mostly on Obama. They aren’t selling McCain, they’re dissing Obama.
Eject, eject, eject!
Yeah. And Imelda Palin’s application has been accepted.
Heh, great minds…
I like the part about being able to join the young eagles up to age 40 (iffin you got the money!)
That is so sad. Featuring Fred Thompson over their own candiodate for president. Fred Thompson!!!!
talk about pimping for money
Jay Leno says no one is dressing up like Palin for Halloween because the costume costs $150,000. LOL.
Do they have a link where you can buy the Palin clothes? Great fundraiser!
Don’t imagine they are getting too many applicants – it would be like boarding the Titanic after it hits the iceberg.
Bernie Sanders up on cnbc.
Punaise, your presence is required here:
http://tbogg.firedoglake.com/2…../#comments
i noticed that too. i think tere are more mentions of Biden, too. that site is too crowded. mish-mash of crap.
With all due respect, the screen cap above is only one of 8 rotating banners. There are others prominently featuring McCain and Palin.
Since Obama is doing so well and the McCain Train is, oh how did Christy put it yesterday, a self imploding clown car, why is m*veon.o*g using scary, obnoxious tactics?
How are they doing that, you ask?
See my Oxdown Diary.
I think it is important that people here look at what both sides are doing.
(btw, the only reason I’m on their email list is because I have added my name via Jane Hamsher thread link requests. Not blaming you Jane. Just thought people should know.
As one of the anchors on cnbc said, the man who interviewed Sanders made Sanders look calm. cnbc guy was sputtering so hard they had to keep wiping off the camera lens.
But why would they have even one featuring Dead Fred? That was the most comatose “campaign” in history. I’d a thunk the Rs would not want to remind anyone of that farce. But then, I’m not a R.
I timed this using the clock on the GOP front page. There are eight splash panels that cycle through, each gets 10 seconds. It starts with the Fred Thompson one, McCain appears on the 4th – Super Saturday, McCain/Palin appear on 6th – Support the Ticket. Obama appears on the last – Meet Barack Obama.
That is funy.
I blame media bias.
It does make your eyes roll around a bit, huh? It’s like the republican platform…..baffle them with bullshit
I don’t know if anyone has heard about this or where it is actually going on, But there was a news story in a local election that there is a Republican candidate that has labeled himself a GOP candidate not a republican. In fact he got his name on the ballot as a “GOP” candidate not Republican. A poll was taken and 70 percent of the folks answer did not know that GOP was the same as Republican. The Democrat is objecting but I think it is too late to change the ballot.
I missed it. what was the upshot?
Right.
If McCheese is the Straight Talker, why feature DeputyDawg?
And if those little yardsign thingys are the only ref to the top of the ticket, they certainly aren’t proud of it.
The thing I first noticed about their web site was the heavy emphasis on a clearly diabolist color scheme.
What else does anyone pimp for?
Okay, besides chocolate. (hi)
I get 2-3 ad cards from the FL Rethug Party every day. Plus a couple robocalls that manage to get onto the answering machine. Each and every one is dissing Obama, not promoting McSFB.
That’s been happening in quite a few places. They don’t want the anchor that is the republican party tied around their neck
ask McCain…
Had the Yes on (H)8 folks visit me yesterday. You can imagine how that turned out.
Nice one Jane.
This is funny out altogether, a week away from striking the public “berg”, and nary a sign of the captain or first mate(d). Just wonder how the history books will be writing this one up.
condiments of the house
Good God, when is McCain going to gasp “rosebud” and get it over with? I want to see that man’s sled burn.
Blue Texan up at the Mothership!
Poll Of Right Wing Bloggers Exposes How Delusional And Marginalized They Are
Lots of talking over each other. cnbc guy said that Sanders was being too tough because WS secys who did nothing wrong would be foregoing their $30,000 bonuses under the Sanders plan. Sanders said “I don’t know what world you’re living in, but people in my state are wondering whether they’ll have jobs, and $30,000 would make a good secy salary here, forget about bonuses. Then cnbc guy tried to emphasize that if bailed out fincorps had to eliminate dividends, that would hurt the little guy. Sanders should have seized the initiative at that point, and said that the cnbc guy was focusing on the smallest part of the problem, that everyone knows the bonuses and dividends go mainly to the rich, and he should stop obfuscating the real problem. So in the end, Sanders was not nearly as strong as he should have been.
Hell hath no fury…
You mean houses? Free beer?
And, oh, you. There are a bunch of Yes on H8 signs on a the street I take up the hill to my house. I’m SOOOOO thinking of adding your “H” to their signs. But, I also hear what Teddy said about that.
Just letting you know, am still thinking about it.
Blue Texan is up with a new post: Poll Of Right Wing Bloggers Exposes How Delusional And Marginalized They Are
Oops. Try that link again!
thanks. Sanders is probably worn out from making so many rounds and taking on so very many wingnuts.
Got a call from them last night. Woman sounded rather stunned when I said I was voting no. I enjoyed being able to tell her that.
ha!!
I did wish them a pleasant afternoon *g* when it was over
Hee, hee…
Yeah be careful. I haven’t had any problems besides the signs are on public property so I figure that my lil artistic improvements are a public service 9since those folks lie through their teeth)
Did you let them finish their spiel before you rained on their parade? i did that. You could see them getting all worked up and impassioned telling me how this would harm my children (didn’t even ask me if i had them, just assumed)blah blah blah.
I told her if she was so concerned about kids being taught about gay marriages in school, she should oppose any proposition that would do so (as prop 8 has nothing to do with that)
ahh to be an informed voteer is a good thing
Noticed how Thompson steals the “straight talk” mantra.
That’s the GOP modus. Always has been, always will. At least they are true to form.
Its the gooper candidate for Governor of WA. He’s a thug. Should have called himself a Republik. I believe he is testifying today before a investigative committee convened to determine whether he openly violated t5he law of campaign contributions, or just did it in secret.
Gosh, I guess that’s one of the Rare Few Upsides to living in a place–Washington, D.C.–that doesn’t have voting representation in the Congress, or any Senators. All of our robocalls come from City Council candidates!
