2.jpgThe Yes on 8 campaign–which is attempting to blackmail opponents by demanding equal donations or a boycott will be called for–may have met its match: Google. Like how the heck do you boycott that mega-information monolith?

This week Google founders said a very large No on 8: Founder Sergey Brin donated $100,000  and co-founder Larry Page made a $40,000 donation to Equality California this week.

In the past two weeks No on 8 Internet contributions, consisting mainly of small donors, have been bringing in several hundred thousand dollars a day. Contributions have been so heavy, said Steve Smith, the lead campaign consultant for the No on 8 campaign, that Equality California‘s computer server crashed when it was trying to file its report with the state Thursday night, forcing the campaign to miss its midnight deadline. Said Smith:

The momentum has shifted and our donors have really stepped up to the plate, both some of our large donors and thousands of small donors.

Join those small donors nao! And Kath Griffin, we still don’t see you name on the list of givers…But we do see Mr Sulu, Geoge Takei with the Google Pride float. He gave $2,600 to No on 8.
