Sure, the Palin family’s $150,000 wardrobe expenses seem excessive, but how much does it cost to slather the makeup on McCain’s latest crush running mate?

The Sleuth has learned that Palin’s high-paid traveling make-up artist is Amy Strozzi, who was nominated for an Emmy Award for her work as head of makeup on "So You Think You Can Dance." Strozzi was paid $13,200 by the McCain-Palin campaign last month alone, according to the campaign’s latest financial disclosure report filed this week.

That’s $4,527.45 more than McCain’s make-up artist made last month. And as we mentioned yesterday in our exclusive on McCain’s make-up artist, the 72-year-old Arizona senator, who has prominent scars from battling cancer, requires more work than does the more naturally telegenic 44-year-old Palin.

I wonder how many RNC small donors will decide to pay the light bill this month instead of sending their regular monthly pittance in to the Extreme Palin Extreme Makeover Fund?

Absolutely PERFECT to use ”Rainbow high,” although Madonna’s Eva Peron is a tad underpowered when contrasted to Patty Lupone.

That does it! I am not sending the RNC that $2,500 today.

Well, not that I was going to, anyway.

LS October 22nd, 2008 at 3:45 pm

I noticed something today. Cindy McCain appeared on the teevee at the rallee with a very puffy distorted face…like someone who had cried all night and had to make a public appearance and tried to cover it with make-up. She didn’t smile. She barely clapped, and I swear I saw quite a “looks could kill” expression. Then…this afternoon at another appearance…she was wearing sunglasses…barely clapping…no smile.

All is NOT WELL in River City. They’ve got big trouble…trust me.

Take a look at the footage if you get the chance.

Trouble…trouble….for sure.

Maybe this is why they’re all so mad about the Newsweek cover. After all, they dropped some serious coin.

Hugh October 22nd, 2008 at 3:50 pm

You know it is really funny. ABCNews reports that Obama is up 11 points but you would never know it from their reporting. Obama raised $150 million last month? Amazing, right? No way, you see ABC News reports it as ”After reneging on his promise to enter the public finance system, Obama has been able to raise large amounts of money, etc.” Then of course they play up Biden’s remark that a new President will be tested. Then they do a kind of gee whiz piece with George Stephanopoulos on McCain’s robocalling. They hate, hate that Obama is in the lead, especially despite their best efforts to run him down. The frustation is palpable.

I don’t think alcohol…more like..really, really pissed…more like “who the hell is Vicki Iseman to you”…or…”why are you so into Sarah”…or…”why the fork did you pick that woman…is she prettier and younger than me…she obviously has no qualifications..” or else something else is wrong. Something definitely was “wrong”….it could be something else altogether…like, “Why the hell did you invest all that money in Countrywide”…but, I don’t think so…..looked like a woman thing to me.

You’ve got to see the footage of any appearances they had to day. Trouble.

Kind of makes me wonder just how “naturally telegenic” Bible Spice is under all that spackle.

That’s a lotta dough for lipgloss and cheekbone rouge, really it is. Carmindy™ does a better makeover on “What Not to Wear,” and they encapsulate it into 2 minutes on each show.

Maybe Sarah just really, really, really likes the money being spent on her.

Or maybe she’s a slow learner.

I just watched the video from NH with Cindy standing in back of McCain – I saw someone who looked exhausted and pretty close to the edge. Her hair was not up to her usual standard; her eyes looked over made(actually, they looked to me as if they’d put false eyelashes on her and put too much adhesive on them..and the eyes were sort of stuck open..it was definitely weird.

BargainCountertenor October 22nd, 2008 at 4:04 pm

Spackle and tape would repair it nicely, tho you’d have to paint the door after. In the alternative, you can reskin the whole door with luann veneer.

Hugh October 22nd, 2008 at 4:06 pm

For Eliott at #22 because fdl is acting up for me too.

A lot but Charlie Gibson remains inconsolable about the capital gains tax. And both he and George Stephanopoulos have been more than willing to follow the direction of their corporate masters.

And on Tuesday night, when he attends a million dollar fund-raiser for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, it will be the last political event he does before Election Day.”

I’ve seen some that in stills shot when the whole sordid little triangle are together. Cindy appears to really resent Palin.

I can’t say I blame her. Mrs BC would clobber me if I’d ever said of another woman, “She’s my soul-mate.” That had to cut to the quick.

And remember that she stole him from wife number one. One of life’s eternal questions is, “Why do people who marry the person they’ve had an extramarital affair with expect fidelity from this person?”

Why wasn’t he railing against the VP insistence that he was part of both the Executive and the Legislative branch of government! I don’t remember him being so persistent then, but he’s having none of it now, that’s for sure!

What are your thoughts?

Ann in AZ October 22nd, 2008 at 4:28 pm

Hmm, hmm, hmm! Now they’re talking to Brian Williams and Todd, and Brian just got done with an interview with McSame and Palin! Todd said there is no chemistry between the two; he seems to think McSame may be blaming her for the problems of the campaign. Guess they’re starting to believe the press in regard to her negative numbers being a drag on the campaign. What did they expect since she can’t even be trusted to talk with the press unless she has a censor with her. They also said you get the feeling they both know they’re losing!

BargainCountertenor October 22nd, 2008 at 4:28 pm

I’ve never heard an adequate explanation for it. Maybe it’s the classic, “De Nile ain’t just de big river in Africa” explanation.

OT but I just had a “poll” from “Venture Data”. I asked if they were R’s or D’s but they lied and said they were neither. They are neo-conthugs apparently. They were mainly concerned about the House Rep, and I did say plenty of nasty things about the R challenger.

Listen, all I got to say is, Nancy Reagan did it better. She was a bigger, more spoiled, pampered, wasteful and inconsiderate part of our President’s life…. sheeesh. ANyone remember her thousand dollar penior/ negligees and asking ”Is Ketchup a vegetable???” when making decisions for childrens free school lunches? Yeah, make children eat ketchup for vegetables and keep buyin peniors despite being like 80 years old, and who cares what you look like anyway? To be honest, yeah, so what if sara palin is spending this money on her make up… You want to make fun of her because it actually DOES make her pretty, and just ignore it when its death warmed over Nancy Reagan spending voracious money on sexy nighties cuz we all feel sorry for her for being so old and ugly anyway…. YOu know, its like reverse discrimination. We are hatin on Sara because she is beautiful… and why would we not want her looking her best? Jealousy? What is wrong here?
