Although it was funny to see Richard Dreyfus as Cheney or Scott Glenn as Rumsfeld, it was a pretty flat film that didn’t seem to have much of a budget and played like a movie of the week. And though Josh Brolin really nails the accent and mannerisms, his caricature of W was more of a caricature of Oliver Stone.
I’m just glad I didn’t go with Emptywheel who would have given me no peace recounting all the historical inaccuracies about Nigerian yellow cake.
Brolin will be appearing on Saturday Night Live tonight playing Bush, and they’re teasing that Bush himself may show up. Not a surprise, really — the portrait of him painted in W is remarkably affable, and his mistakes chalked up to the errors of a well-intentioned guy who just isn’t that smart. It excises from his character all the petty, sadistic malevolence and the pissy sense of entitlement that are his hallmarks. If he goes down in history like this, he’ll be very lucky.

I really need to get your book about producing NBK. I wonder if Powell’s has any in stock.
Palin and Bush ion SNL together….Acccccccckkkkk!
But it could be kind of interesting in an “Outer Limits” way if Tina Fey and Brolin do their stuff, too.
Thanks Jane.
