After this year New York ballots are scheduled to be counted on optical scanners. How would an undetected “typo” of this sort be read by a computer? How many votes would be deleted?

Now I read that this was supposed to go through 20 people before being printed. To me, that looks like 20 prosecutions for election fraud. And I really doubt that any of these officials are members of ACORN.

My real fear about this kind of garbage happening is about what our country will look like on and after election day. Our nation really is in a crisis of epoch proportions; we all need to be much more civil in these times. But no, our opponents do not know the meaning of the term. At this point, I tell my friends that the real organizing will be once we are in power.

As someone who lives just down the road and across the river from the politicos in question, all I can tell you is that it doesn’t surprise me at all that something like this would happen. However the old adage “Never ascribe to malice what can be explained by incompetence” certainly applies here. Patronage politics, partisan politics, nepotism - you name it and it can be found in the political scene of the Capitol Region of New York State.

The simplest explanation is probably that the bozos in question have been jokingly calling Barack “Osama” for so long, their brains just didn’t register that the name on the ballot should have been Obama.

I think the rethugs can be trusted to try every dirty trick in the book on the 4th. I don’t even want to know what they’ll come up with down in Florida this time around… and since Kitty Harris should have plenty of time on her hands, I hope she’s being monitored 24/7.

We have enough people here at the Lake to put some pressure on them if we wanted to use it. A flood of e-mails might work a little magic. At the very least this Bugbee should learn a good lesson by being scared of losing his job.
