And it’s because "she wants to." As opposed to "being forced by the liberal media elite to prove she’s a good sport the we
ekend before the election."
I wonder if there will be any jokes about that pesky "unlawful abuse of power" issue. Secessionist ties? Polar bears? Aerial wolf hunts?
Per Cindy Adams‘ breathless prose:
Sarah Palin is doing Saturday Night Live. Not Tina Fey doing Sarah Palin doing Saturday Night Live. But the Sarah Herself. She has already OK’d it. She’s booked. It’s confirmed. Done deal. Sketches are being sketched as we speak. She — eyeglasses, haircomb, designer jacket and trunkful of gosh-darns, golly-gees and gol-dangs — will be on SNL Saturday night, Oct. 25. Sarah’s rehearsal time has already been penciled in for Friday the 24th. And it’s because she wants to do it. "

Sketches are being re-sketched as we speak, thanks to that nice Mr. Branchflower and the unanimous bipartisan vote of the Alaska Legislative Council.
And they may even get shelved by the 25th. Of course, *this* Saturday’s sketches are being shelved too — but the ones that replace those sketches will be quite something.
The “Weekend Update” coverage of Troopergate should be quite something.
I can’t imagine what this will be like…. I can’t imagine what good it will do anyone.
Why, SNL, do you let yourselves be used by this trollop?

Oh, you don’t think she’ll be going head-to-head with Tina Fey?
I do – and Sarah will never know what hit her.
“Good Tina…Bad Tina”? Or a sit-com in which two identical cousins, one good, one evil emerge to fight at the end times? I wonder if they’ll do some skits in which Palin doesn’t even realize that Fey is in them…using blue screens or split screens.
I wonder what the contract deal was that Palin demanded for her appearance? “No mocking me!”
Ed Tinsley Tax Cheat? NM-02

US House race in NM pits oilman against rancher
BY TIM KORTE October 8, 2008
ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER
“RUIDOSO, N.M. — Small details matter to rancher Ed Tinsley, the Republican nominee in the 2nd Congressional District race.
He’ll pore over contracts, analyzing fine print to ensure he understands what he’s studying. It’s a trait Tinsley attributes to his law school training; an asset he feels will serve him well in the House of Representatives.
“It will help me formulate positions and understand how the system works,” he said. “You learn to understand parts of contracts, the terms. That’s important when you start looking at legislation.”

More republican shenanigans
There is an interesting battle taking place in New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District between Democrat Harry Teague and Republican Ed Tinsley. After twenty eight years of republican rule there is a real democratic contender for the seat.
The Miami Herald carried the AP article above that gave backgrounds for both candidates. The article begins by stating that details matter to Tinsley. Tinsley claims that as the owner of K-Bob’s steakhouses, his degrees in accounting and law, and his dedication to research make him uniquely suited for Congress.
If that is the case how did he miss this: US District Court of New Mexico Case No. CIV-06-0309 where he was penalized $122,000 by the IRS for not turning over his employees’ payroll taxes to the IRS for one of his restaurants. How does a person with a degree in accounting miss seven quarters of not paying his employees’ payroll taxes? For six years Tinsley dodged paying over $122,000 in fines and penalties.
According to the IRS Tinsley waited two years after he first learned about the tax debts before making some payments. When the IRS threatened to seize his company assets in 2005, he went to court and claimed that he was told by an IRS agent to stop paying. I wonder how often something like this happens. Tinsley’s excuse was that the finances of one of his restaurants were in “chaos” and management was inept.
Even though the IRS states that Tinsley was aware of the debt as early as 2000, he claims that that he did not know about it until 2002. How did a candidate who is all about details that makes him uniquely qualified miss seven quarters of filings? According to an IRS filing Tinsley finally paid most or all of the underlying payroll taxes, but failed to pay the fines and penalties.
Ed Tinsley is not the man I want handling legislative details. I might find out that he was smart enough to advocate against paying the minimum wage, with a living wage completely out of the question, is how different from trying not to pay employees’ payroll taxes?
From his sprawling 15,000 acre ranch the concerns of working families may appear trivial and he may assume rules that apply to some people, do not apply to others depending upon one’s social situation. Voters may have had enough of that perception.
Palin has also agreed to drop a puck in Philadelphia…good judgment?
