The candidate reportedly remarked, "She is not exactly the kind of high-profile star who would be a positive for us."

 McCain’s spokeswheel Tucker Bounds spun the comment into:

"So let me get this straight — they turned away Lindsay Lohan, but Barack Obama has friends like unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers and convicted felon Tony Rezko? Maybe LiLo is just too upstanding for Barack Obama."

LiLo?! Way to show you’re hip, Tucker.  "LiLo" is so 13 months ago. Creak, creak….

 Tommy Vietor, Obama’s spokesperson, told TMZ exactly what most of the country is thinking: "Glad to see they’re focused on the important issues over in McCain HQ."

Now Lohan’s attention grabbing father, Michael, whose life is fairly full of downmarket thrills (ex-actor, jail time for DUI, now a minister who starred in a reality show about his attempts to reconnect with his daughter) has demanded some face time in the matter, telling TMZ:

"Everyone is entitled to an opinion and so is Obama and his staff. Then again, you know what they say about opinions. Unfortunately, for them, to make such a comment about my daughter was a big mistake … Look at Angelina Jolie and the wonderful things she has done in her life, and now watch how Lindsay does the same."

 Lohan has more in common with Angelina Jolie than just doing good works: They’ve both distanced themselves from their problematic patres familias.
