It is kinda trippy when you think about it. The Grateful Dead will be truckin’ for Obama at Penn State Monday, October 13, an event sponsored by Change Rocks at Pennsylvania State University.
Fans of the pioneering Sixties’ psychedelic band, known for their tie-dyed shirts, patchouli and high spirits, are getting fired up and ready to vote. Tickets, on sale today, are $50 ($30 with student ID) though at presstime the Ticketmaster site hadn’t updated to allow sales. VIP packages are available and start at $2,500 per ticket and put guests in reserved seats in the first section of seats to the left or right of the stage, plus provide for a serated VIP entrance into the venue. For $5,000 you get the extra perk of a pre-show meet-and-greet with the band.
Expect Saab-driving Dead fans to wonder out loud, "What a long strange trip its been." Repeatedly. For hours. Like a jam during "Sugar Magnolia."
The event will mark the first time surviving band members Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kretuzman and Mickey Hart have played together since 2004. The band’s de facto leader Jerry Garcia died in 1995.
The Dead will be joined by friends Gregg Allman, Butch Trucks, Jaimo, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Marc Quinones, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti from the Allman Brothers Band.

Bipartisan Consultants strongly suggest that Obama downplay (ignore) the support of Hip Hop Artists, Rappers, Dead Heads, Hippies, Medical Marijuana users. What about Southern Rockers?

Looks great on my FB page!
See here how everything led up to this day,
And it’s just like any other day that’s ever been.
Sun going up and then the sun going down.
Shine through my window and my friends they come around,
Come around, come around.
and Lindsay Lohan, whose request to throw a fundraiser for Obama was politely declined by his camp.
McCain’ Tucker Bounds, a spokesman for the McCain campaign commented to TMZ”So let me get this straight — they turned away Lindsay Lohan, but Barack Obama has friends like unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers and convicted felon Tony Rezko? Maybe LiLo is just too upstanding for Barack Obama.”
Tommy Vietor, Obama’s spokesperson, responded back to TMZ, “Glad to see they’re focused on the important issues over in McCain HQ.”
