I think Palin’s ‘mindset’ is that the very use of a rape kit – including emergency contraception and anti-STD treatments constitute an ‘abortion’ which she violently opposes.

No, they don’t. Apparently as soon as the Alaskan Legislature got wind of this practice they passed a law requiring all law enforcement agencies in the State to pay for the kits.

When a top legislator was asked why they were doing this, his answer was “Because of Wasilla.”

Lindsay, I was trying to find out by googling about resources for women in that area who have been raped.
I found this, from 2006, a truncated news article which gives me chills…
and this.
But I’m unable to find out whether funding has been restored to that rape response program.
When I worked as an ER tech, the hospital sent a nurse to be trained in this and she was on call to respond.

This is the issue. People get this. My husband was stunned last night when he heard Jon Stewart say Palin makes people pay for rape kits.

One might add, just women? Or children, too?

Kagro X has a post up which I link to at my homeblog about an important ABC News report. Palin deliberately stalled tackling the issue of sexual violence against women and children in part of her pushing match against Moneghan for not firing the trooper.

Y’know, when the McCain team started that contemptible commercial about kindergarten sex ed, we should have known right away it was an attempt to inoculate against Palin’s own record.
