Sarah Palin has been cc’ing her husband on privileged government emails:
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – E-mails from the Palin administration are being withheld from the public and the governor is citing executive privilege.
With subject lines like "Fagan," "Andrew Halcro" and even "Alaska Ear," it makes some wonder how those topics could possibly be policy related; especially since those same e-mails were copied to the governor’s husband.
The administration says public employees need to know they can debate openly amongst themselves.
Andree McLeod, who tried repeatedly to get a job with the Palin administration, obtained the e-mails through a public records request. [KTUU, emphasis added]
You might be wondering who Andrew Halcro is. A secret agent? A shady lobbyist? Ted Stevens’ love child? No, Andrew Halcro is the guy who wrote Shadow Governor? a widely circulated essay about how Todd Palin may be secretly running the government of Alaska.

As an information security professional, I would see her walked out of the building with her possessions in a box if she did that.
But, as a Rethug, it’s all SOP you know…
the governor is citing executive privilege.
A quick study, da Guv is…
Shadow Governor? Well, that would fit right in with the BushCo Presidency.
Four more years, four more years…. that’s what they’re offering.
I guess that puts his prior membership in AIP in a new light…Will he be “shadow VP” too?
So that’s the Bush Doctrine: When in doubt, invoke executive privilege.
I thought the Bush Doctrine was preemptive lying.
Does this mean if she becomes the VP, she can first appoint her hubby governor of Alaska? Then she could go home to her town and charge the Fed for 312 days of per diem a year?
Here’s the REAl Sarah Palin on Global Warming.
So, that’s what Palin meant by, “In what respect?” Which Bush Doctrine, the one about invading other countries, or the one that allows him to ignore the law? Simple misunderstanding.
The Alaskan government is working just fine.
Thank you for asking.
They are taking advice from Rove and Cheney. I expect the same tricks.
Other tricks to look out for? Arresting groups and people in advance of them trying to go to events where Palin is speaking like they did in St. Paul. They will be blocking any real people trying to get into the one or two “open” events (the reason given will be physical security but what they really want is to stop TV cameras from seeing protesters from asking tough questions or wearing dangerous TV shirts.)
I also expect a dumping and deleting of old emails like Karl Rove did. “Oops we deleted all the emails from the last 17 and 1/2 months. It was an accident. Oh and we accidentally deleted the backups too, we were just trying to make a permanent record and we hit erase and not copy.”
Hey, can we get access to the emails she sent to her pregnant daughter about the abstinence program? It’s policy related after all.
Second guess, second guess, second guess, second guess.
As it should be considering that it is totally dependent on oil company royalties. If it didn’t have that cushion it would dry up and blow away because most Alaskan politicians are crooks.
God help the US if McCain Palin is elected. A new version of Homeland Security is waiting in the wings. The Beta version was tried out in St Paul. No objections from the MSM, so be prepared for the final version to come out in a McCain administration. Terrorist watch no fly list. Watch as even more who publicly dissent get on it. Interstate blocks to check IDs? strictly looking for terrorists of course. A police state? Yes, a police state. I already see some signs of it starting. Fear and hatred along with laws against brown people-can’t publicly make laws against AA’s now, but brown people? no problem. Who will be next? What group will be the target? Fascism rears its ugly head once more with prejudice and racism once more giving pablum to the masses. I already have a place in Canada where I can go, are you ready for police searches? Being denied permission to board a plane? Remember the DoD project “Total Information Awareness”? Remember how the congress put a stop to it? Well, they didn’t. It is back stronger than ever. Big Brother is watching. This is the place, now is the time. Do we submit to fear? Or do we rise above fear and bring ourselves and our country to another level. The repigs will do anything in order to win in Nov. The Dems, when confronted with the lies of the repigs, will stamp their feet and cry. That is just about as angry as the wine and cheese crowd can get
The worst is over re: The Palin Miracle.
And, make no mistake, anything that could get McSame a 20 point bounce was a miracle.
But it’s over. Now all the lies and contradictions get trotted out for sunbathing, and it’s not gonna be pretty.
As long as Obama crushes McBush in the debates, and they keep rottweilers next to the voting machines, he may win this thing.
Sure, Sarah Dubya Palin will continue to be popular with the base, but as the truth comes out, her numbers will erode among other women and independents, like air seeping out of a balloon.
Remember the hit Sen. Clinton’s numbers took when the “Bosnian Landing” untruth got airtime. Palin’s got several of those cooking.
Dam my security hat just went thunk on the floor! The boss is violating basic security?? Shit now what do I do as a person in a trust position. That is so wrong at so many levels it is sad. And to think She wants to be VP… WTF… With revelations like she could never pass a basic security audit never mind a TOP SECRET one. How can we trust her discretion??
Picking security hat back off the floor.
What Palin did was to cc her husband on emails that concerned him. There’s no security violation, because these are not “privileged government emails”; the claims of privilege are invalid, so she should just turn them over.
The Bush doctrine may as well be the Nixon doctrine may as well be the Palin doctrine:
“When the
PresidentGovernor does it, that means that it’s not illegal.”A friend of mine had some dealings with the state of Alaska, and you’ll never guess who he was forced to deal with. Yep, him.
Finally! I’ve been reading Halcro for a week or two and giving out the link. Her husband has been messing around in the Alaskan gov. from the get go. Attending private meetings, and possibly having access to restricted materials. Are we seeing a traditional, fundamentalist marriage, in which the husband runs things? Is she really the boss? Or are they ‘partners in crime’ so to speak.
This is possibly not something that has legs, but it may influence some of the ‘pumas’ in that the husband appears to be running her business. Or traditionalists may see this as the normal and right way to run things.
It stinks.

Christy has a shiny new post at the main gate for us all to enjoy, case you’re interested!
Sarah is suspect enough, but now we’re learning that the Toddster is running things? jeez.
The MSM should really get right on this! Oh wait, never mind.

Fundmentalist marriage was my first thought too.
A friend had an interesting theory. After watching the Palin date, I mean interview, last night she is obviously repeating what she was told to say in response to the questions. The Neo-cons have a nearly perfect puppet here, based on her intelligence, her ego, her background. So they get McCain into office, easily bump him off and voila! A perfect Bush-like puppet.
538 has McCain up 2 with independents.
Slightly OT Sarah Palin observation -
The most frightening thing about her interview last night? The fact that she said she immediately said “yes” to the vice president proposal, that she felt she was completely ready for this position. The most frightening people are those that are completely oblivious to their own limitations.
I wish. Different set of rules for repiglicans.
THere were plenty of people to point out Clinton’s untruth. Now, there’s not many. 527s are needed!
Yeah, exactly. Fascism and the GOP has found a charismatic figure around whom to gather the faithful.
When McCain gets elected (and I’m not in doubt anymore after watching this Rovian power play) watch for something to happen to him along the lines of the phony Reagan assassination attempt that installed Bush Sr and Mumbles Casey as the one and two men in govt. Reagan was warned and after that went along with the program and read his lines.
Palin is dangerous. We are well down the road to fascism and someone like her who can draw the Nuremberg crowds and set the stage for the GOP Triumph of the Will propaganda film is someone around whom the faithful will gather. Many of the fundies have already gone down the path of mind control and brainwashing and she knows just the trigger words to use.
Sarah Palin IS the Manchurian candidate but with herself as the manipulator and the crowds of faithful playing Laurence Harvey’s part en masse.
That’s all, folks.
6::dozen/2 Basically I’m acknowledging her right as governor to classify information as privileged, then calling her on violating her own data classification rules: you’re challenging her classification of the data as privileged in the first place, and calling her on withholding public information.
I like mine better because I get to walk the boss out the door with her goods in a box. I’ve done this twice before, and it’s always entertaining.
I would like to see more info on Todd Palin’s employment with BP. He took a leave of absence in 2007 but then went back to work for BP – because they needed the income? The Gov’s $125,000 + more than $18,000 per diem payments was not enough to support the family – in Alaska? It’s not New York City type cost of living.
If Todd is the Shadow governor – you can bet there are shady deals with the Oil and Gas industry. But those extra Oil & Gas payments to residents probably stops people from asking what is really going on in their state govt.
There is a bottom line to trooper gate. I believe it’s either going to die a slow death because it’s now being delayed killed by the McCain Bushies or it’s going to be delayed well into 2009 and have no election impact.
It’s generating a lot of ink on blogs/media, and I had hopes it would put a dent in TwitBarracuda–who may be an even bigger moron than Bush, but it won’t. Her AG is going to block subpoenas that were voted on by Eskimo/Igloo/ Republican controlled SJC and HJC today. That means that SJC/HJC Alaska will probably have to have a court fight to enforce them since the AG of Alaska is moving to quash them on orders from the Bushies @ Camp McCain.
And they did subpoena Creationist Lady’s squeeze Todd aka First Dude(who by the way is key to those 1100 incriminating emails) she refuses to release.
Sarahbara copied “first dude” on every one of them, and he has no official capacity in “process” or in other words her husband provides no executive privilege.
See:
AK State Leg. Judiciary Committees Grant Subpoenas in Trooper-Gate
But the bottom line is that the Bushy lobbyists who run the McCain campaign have taken control of this investigation and they are at least going to delay it until after the election. Palin’s AG will move to block the subpoenas; the Dems will have to take him to court, and that’s going to take well into the next year.
At least if Obama starts tearing her and McSenile a new one as he should have long ago and whips together some 527s and some point guards who can make points nationally the way the bloggers do here, then the voters can begin to understand what a joke the Palin-McCain campaign is.
Isn’t Todd part of a group that wants Alaska to secede from the Union? The term “shadow” governor takes on a whole new meaning knowing that he is a member of such a radical right organization.
Earlier on this site it was reported that Mcdumby “claims Palin knows more about energy than ‘probably anyone in the United States of America’”
Rather than ignore this outrageously stupid remark, drive a truck thru it. I personally know at least 25 people more knowledgeable about energy policy than Palin because I live near Purdue University and have had Washington, DC energy experience. But, I’m a little guy…really no one. My guess would be that Obama knows hundreds of more qualified people. Let’s start a “DRILL BABY, DRILL!” on Palin about energy policy.
Or, would that be…ah… sexist?
