Well, we already knew he liked to hang out with fundraisers who make rape jokes. But we didn’t know he liked to make them himself. Now we do.
Mike Lux of Open Left has a pitch-perfect writeup of this (and he mentions me! That kind boy):
As Cliff Schecter reported in his book, he calls his wife names I was taught never to say, ever. He is happy to schedule fundraisers with hosts who love to joke about rape. Now we learn he loves to joke about rape himself. He has one of the worst records in Congress on women’s issues, and wants to appoint more folks like Alito to the Supreme Court. Are there still any people who call themselves feminists who are planning to vote for this guy because Obama beat Hillary?
And to my friends in the media: I know McCain is your beloved, but where are you on stories like this? If Obama had ever said something like this- hell, if Obama’s minister or doctor or neighbor down the block had ever said something like this you guys would be all over it. This is an important story.
I can’t add much to this well-reasoned analysis. For McCain to do well with women voters Barack Obama is seriously going to have to run one of the dumbest campaigns on record.

I think the MSM is into violations of the truth these days. So big yawn from them.
I wish McCain would tell that knee-slapper about Chelsea Clinton’s parentage again. I’ve hardly stopped laughing since he told it in 1998 — and it took weeks for our media to actually share the joke, even though they all “covered” it.
Well, sounds like McSlime is on target to beat his week last week, which according to the FCP (Fawning Corporate Media) he ‘won’ by dint of Jesse Jackson threatening to cut Obama’s nuts off. (See McCain vs cigarettes to kill Iranians, Social Security is an absolute disaster, the Viagra vs birth control deal, Phil ‘it’s all in your head you bunch of whiners’ Gramm, arresting the librarian for McCain = Bush, and dissing the Vietnam vet on VA funding)
The FCP has been promising for months that as soon as the Dem candidate was confirmed they would start ‘paying attention’ to McSlime and cover all his stuff. I’m sure glad I wasn’t holding my breath – I’d be purple by now!

Teddy P, that 1998 “joke” was common knowledge among parents in Cleveland Park, the D.C. neighborhood in which my kids and Chelsea attended school; even though the media didn’t initially give the full monty. I don’t know a single parent who wasn’t shocked. Just as they’d been when “Comedian” Rushbo announced that White House had a dog–and held up a photo of Chelsea–on his deservedly short-lived television show (circa 1993); McSame followed up with the Reno “joke” five years later. The Republican parents thought that McSame was supposed to abide by higher standards than Rush; we Dems were disgusted but not surprised.
