As you know by now if you own a tv or a computer, John McCain has finally rejected the endorsement he once sought from John Hagee. The Catholic-bashing, gay-hating, Islamophobia didn’t do it. But once you’re a fan of Hitler’s work as a "hunter," well, that’s a hard one to come back from.
So now there is only the rejection of the Revs. Parsley, Land, Mahoney, etc., to go. In the meantime, after a day that began with his changing his position on a gay marriage amendment and domestic benefits, he finished it by flip-flopping on Hagee. Considering it wasn’t that hard to find Hagee’s sermon on Hitler’s doing God’s work by killing Jews all the way back to Israel, one has to assume that McCain is either didn’t care, or worse yet didn’t take any time to find out what his "spiritual mentor" was out there saying.
Now the only question is whether preachers will hate him for his flip-flopping rejection of one of their own as much as the lobbyists now do.

About FDL Action
After McBush decided to bash Hagee- Hagee withdrew his endorsement—funny as hell.
*This* preacher would be quite happy to have McCain reject the whole bunch of TheoCon preachers.
Go ahead, John . . . they don’t really like you anyway. Not even Pat Robertson — to him, endorsing you was just a way to stick it to Dobson.
Just like his lobbying crappola, he changes course when he gets caught. Uh..Huh…
This is a man that truly blows the way the wind blows…
Even if McCain were aware, which I’m sure he was, oh maybe not…no, I’m sure he was aware…that a monetary contributor had made heinous statements for years and years…he would do absolutely nothing unless it was unearthed by people….like authors and bloggers, who pointed to his weaknesses…then…he just “tacks”…sailor man….I can hear it now…uh oh..Hagee…ready to “come about”….or get ready to “tack” re: Parsley…soon to “come about”…
He is a Fortunate Son jerk.
I just hope we see more bats**t expositions like this.
Hagee’s beliefs are not those of a religious person. They are the ravings of someone who needs serious help. McC was so busy trying to get the wingnut vote he forgot to care about the important stuff. Too Bad!
McCain cuts and runs!
I don’t know- sounds pretty religious to me– in the fashion of the end times people.
Cliff…. when you speak to Jeff Farias at KPHX next ask him about the money connections of CindyLou financial dealings…… this was mentioned on the air but I was out walking and didn’t catch the name…..but Jeff did say…. google XXX and there is a lot out there….. sorry I couldn’t remember….
My problem is that I don’t believe anything these wacko preachers say because I don’t think THEY believe it. This is about power and money and “I got invited to the WH” – not religion – IMO.
I actually believe that McCain is Hagee’s worst nightmare.
This isn’t someone with an ideology – this is a deeply sick individual, and he sets himself apart from Falwells and Robertsons with every word. There isn’t anybody, anywhere on any ideological graph point who won’t have to repudiate this bullshit, except of course, his precious flock. And fuck them if they hang with this asshole.
And now he has a platform – a proud day.
Talk about “left behind…”
McCain, as a “sailor” has no sense of the general direction or course to sail…
He just goes along and changes as the wind blows…the “wind” right now is the money from his wife and her family, and the money from the RNC…
He has no real direction. He has no compass sense.
McCain is an imposter. He is proving to be a weak person with no real thoughts of his own.
A real person would never, ever cowtow to the people that defamed his family the way the people that he gravitates to did.
The must have something really bad on McCain. Either that or he’s just what I said, a weak person. I dunno which. Could be either case.
He’s definitely not a “Maverick” at all.
McCain apparently just dumped the Rod Parsely endorsement as well…
McCain’s got a nice little coalition of supporters, hasn’t he? It’s like watching somebody juggle nine small bottles of nitroglycerin while trying to convince you that he’s really in control and not sweating at all. The only real question is when the whole thing blows up in his hands.
Is there anything McBush WON’T do to become prez? Sit Johnnie- sit up an beg- roll over–become a baptist-Nice doggie- OK now become a Moslem—Oops reject that one,
’scuse: ‘Rod Parsley‘
Still too close to being a euphemism for male pubic hair.
McCain is on the cut and run from the base! ATTACK!
So frikkin’ true!! No “religious” person with “faith” from any religion would support war, death, torture, etc. It is just manipulation of people. Real religious people believe in peace, love, and preservation of all life in all forms…anyone that thinks that killing for ideological purposes is okay is just a frikkin’ golddigging moron. JMHO. Harsh yes, but that is “my” belief…but…hey, I’m not wearing a “uniform”…
Does anybody (elected thug or dem) realize how stoopid we look from out there amongst the billions of muslims, buddhists, hindus, agnostics, atheists, and wiccans?
Yet, which pastor (whose venom was directed only at ourselves) and who embraced all faiths and non-believers, had to be repudiated repeatedly so that a candidate could move forward with hope?
Some kind of egregious misconduct upstairs.
Most religions originally included a God of war- in fact the God of the Jewish religion was originally the war God in their Pantheon…It’s not unusual for religions to offer assistance in killing the non-believers.
Late Nite up at FDL!
You can pander to some of the people all of the time, and you can pander to all of the people some of the time, but you can’t pander to all of the people all of the time.
But it ain’t kept McCan’t from trying anyway.
As flip-flopping on everything becomes SOP for McPaid, Egregious has a new Late Night post upstairs about “How the Mighty Have Fallen!”
The right-whinge base ain’t voting Democratic. McCain can cut the whackjob pastors loose in time for the general election; he only has to do just enough to keep evangelicals from staying home in November.
McCain’s pandering to the center now that he’s sewn up the Repub primary, which absolutely no one could have seen coming.
What McBush has got goin fer him here is that most of the religious nutcases hate each other- trash each other unmercifully for wrongly understandin the Good Book…they start out hurlin chapter and verse at one another and end up throwin the furniture. Seen it many times.
Hmmm…seems like a lot of deck chairs being thrown off the Titanic today…
Actually, I like the Zeitgeist version.
I have to wonder how many fundies will just stay home. He will need every one of them.
I think that would be wonderful. After all these years of the Repubs kissing up to the wingers, to have them walk away would be complete justice.
It’s a good year for goopers to stay home- to prove to the party “You can’t win without me.”
This works best during a year when they can’t win anyway.
Course the California Supreme Court (God bless their souls) just said that it’s unconstitutional to not allow gays to marry- so the fundies may HAVE to vote to keep the Lord from droppin Fire an Brimstone.
You know the voices in your head are evil if they are telling you to harm someone else for whatever reason.
Preachers are no more of one mind than voters are.
With a wink and a nod, McCain publicly refutes Hagee and Parsley.
You have to recognize that the Pastors ( I use the term liberally), will continue to support McCain and await their return if McCain becomes president.
My humble opinion……………….
